TRACKLISTING: A) Arcane (4:15), B) Arcane (B-Complex Remix) (7:02),
OVERVIEW: New Education release their new single, ‘Arcane’ through Kids Records, the label that launched The Wombats, The Whip and Band of Horses. Recorded & mixed by Chris Potter (The Verve), the track follows on from the band’s two previous sold-out singles ‘Today’ and ‘Another Miracle’. ‘Arcane’ will be released on download and 7” vinyl and features an awesome B-Complex Drum ‘n’ Bass remix of the track as the B-side. ‘Arcane’ is anthemic, gritty, self-assured and further testament to New Education becoming a face of optimism amongst a crowd of drudgery.
New Education were formed by Brothers Ryan Dooley (vocals, guitar) and Jack Dooley (bass, backing vocals) in January 2008, along with long-time friends David Cartwright (guitar) and John Bradbury (drums). Influenced by bands like Oasis, The Cure and The Clash, Ryan writes gritty, assured rock songs which the band describe as the sound of “the midlands calling”.
The band have earned a devoted and ever-growing following in their native Stoke-On-Trent in a very short space of time, with rowdy gigs at The Sugarmill and the Underground cementing their local fanbase. In the past year the band have worked hard to spread their sound across the UK, supporting the likes of The Holloways, Detroit Social Club, The Twang and Peter Doherty, and are increasingly gaining fans and recognition as one of Britain’s most promising new rock bands. Earlier this year they completed a 12-date tour of the UK with The Rifles, which included a particularly rowdy sold-out show at London’s Roundhouse. The band also hosted a hugely successful weekly club night ‘Club Education’ at Stoke’s Underground.
