Daniel Menche has a fantastic disc out on Editions Mego which really sucked me into its vortex the first time it got played. 'Kataract' captures the powerful and uncompromising force of nature that is water, or more specifically waterfalls of the Pacific North West. This is the sort of stuff I can listen to for hours just getting lost in all the hidden rhythms and rich textures. This is a single 39 minute piece constructed from various waterfalls. I'm not entirely sure of the editing process/ post production that has been done to the recordings but they brilliantly capture both the tranquil vibes and chaotic, unpredictable nature of what I suppose is ultimately one of the sources of life itself. Edition of 500 in lovely artwork by Emily Hyde.

All waterfall recordings were captured around the Pacific northwest of USA.

Mastered in the analog domain at Stereophonic Mastering, Portland, Oregon.

Artwork and illustrations by Emily Hyde.

Photo art reproduction by Circle 23.

Design by Johnny Pinkhouse
