Our single of the week (4th December 2009)

Weird You by Deep Sht

Bitchin' 7" on No Pain in Pop by Deep Sht. Fitting in nicely with all this sludgy disembodied haunt-o-pop and ghostly lo-fi that's coming out on Woodsist, Captured Tracks & the like, this 'Weird You' 5 tracker merges drowsy shoegaze elements, dissonant no-wave & the kind of muddied space-pop textures that Flying Saucer Attack pioneered in the early 90's, whilst some of the harmonies & pop structures recall early budget efforts by the likes of Sweden's Radio Dept. Definitely treading similar ground to Blank Dogs, Spectrals et al, this is stuffed with stirring, ecstatic chord progressions, irresistible melodies & these incomprehensible smudged vocals all given added character by emulating the essence of a blurred, muddied & seriously deteriorated tape. Wicked stuff.....

"Crestfallen London flânuer Tom Watson, plus company, make minimal rock and slowgaze so blissed in itself all else is lost to the rapt depth of their own flux'd-out drone."http://www.myspace.com/deepshtsht One of the labels of the year (in our eyes/ears)finishes the decade with a limited 7"...
