Wild Palms newie 'Over Time' sounds great, it's a bit arty, a bit cool, a disco sandwich served up with a portion of originality. I guess it could share the stage with potential luminaries Franz Ferdinand or a fag or two with Liars. It's a pretty strong single. The remix on the flip side is actually really good which was a surprise… most remixes don't really do it for me, as its just usually aspects of the song with a dead shit dance beat behind it. This remix seriously made me want to have a dance about, but then I remembered I have two left feet. It's on Popular Recordings...so you should get it...‘….Over…. Time….’ is the debut single from London band, WILD PALMS. Suffice to say it’s an anticipated release amongst those in the know, as the band have created somewhat of a following since their conception one year ago. The single is about the breakdown of a relationship physically, emotionally, and mentally; not through one major incident but through subtle changes in individuals through the passage of time.
Taking joint influence from Can, Captain Beefheart, Sonic Youth, TV On The Radio, Billy Childish and Liquid Liquid with an added dash of New Order & Talking Heads, WILD PALMS are Lou, Gareth, James and Darrell.
Art naturally influences them as a band, Lou’s writing style and the way their music is created. Darrell, the in-house artist, adds another dimension to their music – be it their artwork or their distinctive canvas backdrop which they take everywhere with them when touring. The visual elements of them as a band are as important as the music itself. They simply go hand in hand.
