Another split 7", another dollar....DM & DM (Dan Melchior) offer a lo-fi cut which is faster than a Texan lynching. Their 2 songs are both parts funny and catchy. The 2nd track A Delicate Genius Backstage is really funny. It's about the artist in us all (apparently) and somehow it does strike a chord with me. All in all worth investigating. The Fresh and Only's offer a Robert Pollard-esque cut about the ills of having no food (what do you do when ya got no foood?.. Musical Youth) These guys sound great on record and sound even better on the correct speed... it's on Volar Records...These mutual fans couldn't resist working together, which lead to this great 7-inch featuring two songs each by the respective artists. DAN MELCHIOR has continued his winning streak lately with the Obscured by Fuzz LP and the Thankyou Very Much LP, along with a host of 7-inches. THE FRESH & ONLYS can only continue to rise lately, what with the very well-received Grey-Eyed Girls LP on Woodsist and a forthcoming record on In the Red, and yet another national tour.
