Buraka Som Sistema - Fabriclive 49: Buraka Som Sistema

Fabriclive 49: Buraka Som Sistema by Buraka Som Sistema

Three years since Buraka Som Sistema’s breakthrough single ‘Sound Of
Kuduro’ took the world by storm, Kudoro’s influence on club music has been
felt across the globe. And here, on their debut mix CD, they incorporate their
own music – complete with re-edits from the likes of scene leaders L-Vis
1990, Stenchman and A1 Bassline, the music they’ve touched and
anything that fits their intense blueprint for club music, from Zomby to Diplo
to Skream.

Buraka’s wild, explosive take on European dance music first pricked the ears
of Diplo and Sinden in 2006 and led to their hook up with M.I.A. Her vocal
on ‘Sound Of Kuduro’ and its accompanying video was a phenomenon,
currently on 2.3 million YouTube hits and counting.

The band are underground club rocking sensations abroad, and veritable
superstars back home in Portugal, regularly occupying the pop charts as well
as following the likes of Bob Dylan on stage at national festivals. The release
of their debut album, ‘Black Diamond’ in November 2008 on Fabric
Records cemented their reputation as one of the world’s most exhilarating
and original bands, and has been accompanied by an almost non-stop round
the world live schedule ever since.

Their live show, which incorporates the full group including vocals and live
drums, is one of the most explosive performances on the live circuit,
complete with mass female stage invasions.

Their music, incorporating the playfulness of soca rhythms and the intensity of
a sweat-drenched Portuguese Kuduro rave, is the finest, most ruthless and
energetic dance music known to man. They are the archetype for the club
world’s newfound open-mindedness to international sounds.
