Blank Realms are an australian two piece psych band with a history of tape releases on Not Not Fun. This is their first LP release and sees the duo on fine form, crafting unimaginable psyche noise opus's with the most fundamental of musical tools. 'Heatless ark' verges on No Wave territory throughout whilst maintaining a mutated melodic sensibility that almost bypasses all their efforts to be really noisy. Backward tub thumping is accompanied by frenzied vocal wails and intense layers of feedback and drone that appear to be generated from a guitar. Compositions swell into a heaving mass of pulsating madness before retreating to the glen for sandwiches and home made lemonade before return with another onslaught. Part madness, part genius, this music will take further aural reflection for the meaning to sink in. Reminds me of the madness of the Residents but informed by the modern necessity in improv music to psych shit up good. This record has an amazing sleeve that comes in loads of different colours. Yowza!Vinyl debut by this consistently impressive australian psych collective with 2 previous cassette albums on NNF. this one finds them moving into weird-punk song terrain, almost a fried improv no-wave vibe in places. beautifully silkscreened sleeves by our artist friend in Tokyo.
