Good lord check out this Primal Scream/ RTX split 12"... The sleeve is well funny with Bobby and Jennifer in pencil drawing gracing each side of the sleeve... Its a cool sleeve actually, I think rock chick Jennifer Herrema actually did the artwork. I dig the rat holding a dreamcatcher... Awesome. Primal Scream lay down a cover of The Troggs' 'I Want You'. I couldn't put my finger on who the tune was by and had to cheat by looking it up. It was so obvious I'm going to punch my face right off for not knowing. Some classic rock'n' roll vibes and if you dig the Scream then no doubt you'll dig this version. I used to be really into Royal Trux, I'm not so much into the RTX stuff I've heard though but hey, I'm all ears... So a cover of Randy California's 'Nature's Way' which sounds vaguely familiar to me. Whoaaaa!!!! a saxophone just entered the mix... police sirens... vocoder!!! It sounds very 80's and I'm strangely drawn to it... It feels like a guilty pleasure. Limited edition on White Noise.Well lookey dookey, here's a smokin limited 12" from Los Angeles on White Noise, Scotlands groove shaggers Primal Scream knock out a swaggering Troggs cover "I Want You", and then on the flip we have Jennifer Herrema and co, skronking through a cover of Spirit's "Natures Way". White Noise is stunned and grateful and a little delirious as we announce the release of a brand-new split 12 with Primal Scream and RTX each kicking in exclusive covers recorded according to instant whim during the winter 2008 RTX/ PrimalScream tour of the United Kingdom. Primal Scream contribute their first new song since 2008 s Beautiful Future a monstrous reading of the Troggs primordial I Want You, delivered here with Primal Scream s usual masterful mix of classic technique from all ages and disciplines. (Feel that extra kick at the head of the riff!) Plenty of screaming guitar and Bobby's vocals just about drip out of the bottom of the turntable this one is gonna stick to you! RTX (whose recent JJ Got Live RaTX is just about a California classic) peel out their first new recording since a killer split with Monotonix and it turns out to be Randy California s brutally epic Nature's Way. Jennifer Herrema and unflappable backers turn in a slinky version of the Sardonicus stand-out with fearless production (sax and vocoder) and an extended finale that demands to be played on repeat for at least twenty minutes per day.
