Solid, hard-hitting, hardcore deep funk that’s destined straight for the dancefloor.
Following the Dap-Kings from the USA, the Poets Of Rhythm from
Germany, and the New Mastersounds from the UK, it’s time to
make way for a neat dose of super duper hard ‘n’ heavy funk from
Japan with the debut UK album from Mountain Mocha Kilimanjaro.
Although these funk sides were recorded over a year ago, the
reserved nature of the Japanese music scene has kept the band
recordings hidden from the ravenous ears of funk fans around the
world. That’s until Jazzman Gerald and Fryer went on a DJ trip to
Tokyo recently where they stumbled across the album and instantly
knew they had hit upon something big.
Jazzman have already excited funk fans the world over with their
many superb deep funk reissues. Now it’s time for ‘Mountain Mocha
Kilimanjaro’ to be unleashed upon the world – with no less than
fourteen original, hardcore, deep funk party bangers on one album.
The full length self-titled album with CD containing two bonus
tracks NOT available on the original Japanese-only album, and
strictly limited vinyl LP (1000 copies).
“Amazing! The most enthusiastic deep funk band in Japan. They’re
gonna cause a riot!” – Keb Darge, “Too heavy – it’s hardcore!” –
Craig Charles, “Funk Bomb Alert! Killer killer killer funk bombs that
reference everything that is great about funk - just awesome for the
dancefloor!” – Pete ‘Jelly Jazz’ Isaac.
