Top boss rekkid of the week for me is the fabulous Disrupt 12" Ft. MC Soom T, Glasgow's premier cheeky riddim riding scamp! 'Dirty Money' has her soulful, sassy flow topping a wicked dirty bassline & those irresistible bleepy commodore rhythms, a total modern classic in my book! The excellent 'Survivor' is a top notch reggae skanker with some mad assed dub effects, Soom's vocals once again flowing most soulfully over the infectious summery tune. My fave though is 'Doobeedeedoo' which has a nice speaker busting bass line & a lightly distorted beat which combined with the crazy lyrics and myriad dubbed out touches just kills me every time I hear it! Totally brilliant 5 tracker with 2 instrumental versions to boot, This is one of the best Jahtari's so far, totally addictive! Disrupt is well dope iinit!!Ruffness and tuffness on 12” by Soom T, Glasgow Jedi MC of the first order, who draws her pink light sabre here and drops the tune ‘Dirty Money’ with such an irresistible force that it will blast every Imperial stormtrooper out of their boots. Proven to be the biggest floor fave at recent Jahtari live shows, the riddim is originally based on a Commodore C64 SID-file from 1990 by Swedish chip rocker Johan Danielsson, aka. JLD. Johan, then a member of the C64-demo group Warriors Of The Wasteland, created the tune with Future Composer at the age of 15. Finally this forgotten gem is put into hyperdrive mode and shot into the Star Destroyer class. The ride continues with the high-G killer ‘Surivor’ which is sure to instantly steam up the inside of your space helmet. After that the big lazer guns are on the table, to light up the final ‘Doobeedeedoo’. These are no Jedi Mind Tricks, just some spliffical beats for the Rebel Alliance, and with the inclusion of two bespoke dubs by Commander Disrupt, the force is strong in this one.
