Local superstars Castrovalva are kicking up the shit on new single/E.P 'Thug Poetry' taking things way beyond the proto Lightning Bolt sound they started out with. 'Thuglife' and 'Outlawz' are ace examples of a group coming into their own, enlisting the help of Leemun Smith and his extensive vocal range to help elevate Castrovalva to new screaming heights. These tunes are totally ridiculous, bass driven marathons of rock that sound like they were recorded on a rocket ship somewhere in the future of outer space. Smith's falsetto sounds immense on both tracks and the riffage is enough to make even the toughest of cynics grin with new found glee. Can't say enough nice things about these little intro to the neu Castrovalva sound, well worth a look yo! Ace artwork too!!! Cheers lads!Web links: www.myspace.com/Castrovalvamusic Castrovalva have grown rapidly since their first gig together in Sept 2007. After their debut Mini-Album in May 2008 on Brew they have continued to play gigs with Health, Monotonix, Errors, Nadja, Kong, The Plight, Shield Your Eyes, Blakfish, and An Albatross amongst many others. Thug Poetry now sees Castrovalva harness their sound and drive it into harsh bass-driven rock with various pop overtones reminiscent of influences such as Prince, N.W.A, Notorious B.I.G, Lightning Bolt, Hella, Arab on radar, Death From Above 1979 & Oxes. Track listing: 1) Thuglife 2) Outlawz Live – Castrovalva will be touring the UK in late November to support the release including an Artrocker launch night in London. They also have further yours planned for early 2010. Most recently they have supported the likes of Health, Nadja and Monotonix. Press -.
