Lucky Dragons have had an increased profile of late due to the fact they've been caught out making some of the most addictive, hypnotic tribal pop you'll ever hear so people, being clever & all that, have began actually buying their records. You know all the bits about old "chill out" acts like Lemon Jelly that were good I.E. the beautiful kindergarten psychedelic sounds & the rich, colourful dream tapestries their music could evoke if you ignored the toytown numpty beats & the irritating samples? Blend those over some proper monged, kaleidoscopic techno shapes with hazy post-shoegaze vocal wisps & the pop equivalent of a looping tropical jungle then you're getting somewhere near. Every track is a winner on this oh-so-excellent Japanese compilation 'Rara Speaks' (one of the duo is called Sarah Rara!) - crystaline, playful, fresh & mind enhancing, Lucky Dragons are the true masters of futuristic, innovative & engaging pop. 18 tracks at a very pleasing price too! Much love to this mighty duo!Rara speaks is a compilation of tracks from Los
Angeles-based duo Lucky Dragons: Luke Fischbeck & Sara
Rara. The band run a "weekly collaborative drawing
society" called Sumi Ink Club and an internet community
called Glaciers of Nice. This CD features 16 songs (18 total)
from label compilations (Audio Dregs, Marriage Records,
Dublab/Anticon) and their hard-to-find vinyl releases
(Teenage Teardrops, Atelier Ciseaux, Wildfire Wildfire) plus
two fantastic remixes by Japanese next-generation artists
OORUTAICHI and Chanson Sigeru. Cover art drawing by
Sumi Ink Club.

"lucky dragons" means any recorded or performed or installed or packaged
or shared or suggested or imagined pieces made by Luke Fischbeck, Sarah
Rara, and/or any sometimes collaborators who claim the name.
the name "lucky dragons" is borrowed from a japanese fishing boat caught
in the fallout of hydrogen bomb test at bikini atoll in the 1950's. the crew
stricken ill, and the boat itself contaminated, the "lucky dragon" became a
crystalizing symbol for the previously diffuse worldwide anti-nuclear
sentiment. eventually the boat was painted black, renamed the "dark
falcon", and put into reuse as a fishing vessel, until it was retired and
disposed of on the man-made trash island "dream island", where it remains
today.
lucky dragons' sister projects include "sumi ink club"--a weekly
collaborative drawing society, and "glaciers of nice"--a small press and
internet community.
