The third album of Keith Richard’s best mates! - 180gram vinyl in heavy slipcase with printed full colour innersleeves and stickered with ’Special Guests: Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood, Joe Brown’!! All songs produced by Pete Brown and Brian James (from The Damned).
Who are these guys that can get members of the biggest rock band in the world to play on their albums? - A good time Rock & Roll band from Shepherd Bush’ UK, that’s who they are. The Dirty Strangers first album was released in 1987. It featured Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood, the late Paul Fox (formerly of The Ruts), Mickey Gallagher (of Ian Dury’s Blockheads) and band founder and the man responsible for putting these guys togther, Alan Clayton!
The new album for 2009 ‘West 12 To Wittering- Another West Side Story’ features again Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood plus the legendary Joe Brown. It’s somewhat of a pastiche of the Arthur Laurents story, (just swap Shepherds Bush for New York) Alan Clayton writes his own musical influenced by personal life experiences that embraces gang culture, hoodlums, isolation, liberty, motors, and love story’s. At times, Clayton sounds uncannily similar to Mick Jagger. He sports a raunchy, low-growlish tone, the rhythm section is solid a la late 70ies Stones but with elements of punkish abandon.
On this album, Keith plays piano and leaves all guitar playing to his good friend Clayton, bar Ronnie Wood playing bottleneck on two tracks. Joe Brown guests on ‘All Away’. Joe’s son Pete Brown produced this album with the help by former Damned member, Brian James, on two tracks. This is an album that should be bought on its own merit but will
also appeal to people that collect Rolling Stones’ guest appearances.
