Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros - 40 Day Dream

40 Day Dream by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros are a new name to me but I get the impression they are making waves with their radio friendly pop single (and first track on debut album 'Up From Below') '40 Day Dream'. It's a throw back to bands like Supertramp and 10cc, the press release seems to support this claim as they brag about psychedelic folk rock undertones and recording on a 30 year old mixing desk.....Big deal. Reminds me of the likes of Fiery Furnaces and The Zutons. B-side 'Geez Louise' sounds like an old style Mountain Goats tune with elements of paganist folk guitar pickering added for go measure. It's folky and poppy at the same time.....Genius.

Side A: 40 Day Dream
Side B: Geez Luis
