Micah P Hinson - All Dressed Up And Smelling Of Strangers

All Dressed Up And Smelling Of Strangers by Micah P Hinson

I kind of thought Micah P. Hinson was shitter than this 'All Dressed Up and Smelling of Strangers' demonstrates, but he's actually not. I don't know what that sentence means but I'm quite pleasantly surprised in any case. It's a double CD set in which the fella covers the likes of John Denver, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Leadbelly, Roy Orbison and others - generally in a bit of a cosy 'cuddled up in front of the fire' country sort of style. I'm liking the recording, it's super intimate and I can well imagine listeners being able to close their eyes and imagine Micah in the room with them, singing his little heart out and naked but for a battered pair of army boots, a pork pie hat, some upsettingly smeared lipstick and a diamante cock ring. And isn't that what we all want?
