Oooh yeah I got me some Siltbreeeeeezeee action! This is the self-titled debut album from four piece The Mantles who are currently supporting Ty Segall. They have a real nice sound going, a wee bit jangly, psychedelic pop a bit lo-fi. It could be my ears but the drummer sounds like he's a few blocks down the street. This certainly has its charms recalling early 80's New Zealand bands as well as some Paisley Underground stuff. Comes with download code too. With two acclaimed seven-inches under their belt, TheMantles answer the call for more with a stunning debut LPsure to please all who cross its path. The Mantles have beendead-on in distilling a contemporary pop / psych concoctionthat mixes equal parts early Chills with early DreamSyndicate and really, who among us wouldn t want abottle of that with which to quietly tipple the day away?Recorded by Greg Ashley, the LP taps said hybrid, andif anything, burrows deeper into the core of rock, extractingessential magma that fuses early SF Ballroom psychedelia,Byrds-ian jangle-pop, and the Velvet Underground sextraordinary ability for serpentine leads and bridges. Andyep, that pretty much covers all the bases. Look for the bandto embark on their first US tour in September, supportingTy Segall coast to coast.
