If you saw one of My Bloody Valentine's reunion shows this year and thought to yourself - 'That was great. Now what?' - well you could go out and buy one of the many Jesus & Mary Chain rip-off's that have graced the record shops of the world in the last six months. Occult Radiance may be treading a well worn path with their excursions into shoe-gazing rock but 'Fleeting Joys' is a pretty reasonable offering to the 2009 resurgence in all things J&MC. It's like a rocked out american grunge reworking of shoe-gazer themes with an emphasis on big riffs vs. soothing vocal ambience. It's not far removed from bands like Hum or, more specifically Swervedriver but the vocals have a distinct Ride feel to them with occasional tracks veering into Spiritualized territory. Not the most original record in the world but a well conceived effort ne'er the less. It's the sound of heartache, depression, love, misery and desperation, something i'm sure we can all relate too y'all."If you saw one of My Bloody Valentine's reunion shows this year and thought to yourself - 'That was great. Now what?' - Occult Radiance may be the perfect answer to your question...The band attack their songs a little harder then MBV ever did, kind of like grunge-friendly shoegaze...prime examples of the best that 21st century shoegazing has to offer..."
- David Mansdorg, Loosing Today
"Fleeting Joys merge huge swathes of tone into one big sound, as if they've turned each instrument into liquid and poured them into your ears..." - The MagUK
"...sounding like part love, part death, part hope, part sadness."
