Get Back Guinozzi - Low Files Tropical

Low Files Tropical by Get Back Guinozzi

Fat Cat continue on their quest to discover some of the International stages' more individual & intriguing acts with this debut 7" by Get Back Guinozzi! 'Low Files Tropical' has this sassy, summery pop swagger to it with a flighty female vocal from a French lass called Eglantine. It's a difficult song to pigeonhole, it's got this slightly stoned Caribbean feel but also works as a cool piece of inventive left-feel pop that sticks in yr mind. The cover of Junior Murvin's 'Police & Thieves' is quite entertaining, presented as a piece of quirky, dreamy motorik pop with a slight tropical shoegaze feel. A cool double header from this ear pleasing Gallic duo! Ltd as always...

Driven by French friends guitarist Fred Landini and
singer  Eglantine  Gouzy,  Get  Back  Guinozzi!
began with Fred composing  fifteen brief  tracks  for a
contemporary  dance  company  using  a  minimal  set
up  of  guitar,  rhythm  box,  and  a  single  keyboard
sound.  Having  collaborated  together  on  some
previous material, Fred sent London-based Eglantine
some  of  this  instrumental material  to  work  on  and
the  pair  were  so  excited  by  the  results  that  they
decided to form a band.
‘Low Files Tropical’ is ably backed with a brilliantly
punchy, bubbly version of  the classic, much-covered
‘Police  &  Thieves’  which  -  complete  with  kazoo
solo  -  perhaps  owes  more  to  Junior  Murvin’s
original  than  The Clash’s  best  known  version.  The
track became a blog hit in June, finding its way on to
6Music and beyond.
