Time for a new label! Tokyo Droning is an offshoot of the splendid Home Normal and if its debut release, Offthesky's Fluorescence, is anything to go by it'll be home to slightly harsher stuff than its daddy and focusing a little more of the wonders of fancy packaging. This CD comes in a lovely recycled card wallet, embossed on both sides and containing a little inlay that's apparently make of petals, which is obviously amazing. Oh, and it's limited to 100 numbered copies. On to the sounds then and Offthesky has taken a conceptual angle, manipulating recordings of fluorescent light bulbs into a 30 minute drone workout which broods ominously away at the listener, occasionally rising up into a clipping noisefest. Proof positive that you can make anything into anything with the right software and the will to do it.. Quite a singular statement and a fine start to this droney imprint!

What their label says...

Tokyo Droning kicks things off with one of my favourite artists, namely 'offthesky'. The man behind the moniker, Jason Corder, currently resides in Denver, Colorado. He has released works on labels such as 12k, Resting Bell and thelandof to name just a few. For Tokyo Droning, Jason has created an incredible 30 minute developing drone work using and processing the tones from a fluorescent light with his trusty computer. As with all Jason's work, it is done with an incredible awareness of tone, texture and amazing beauty from such a simple single source, 'fluorescence' indeed

'fluorescence' is a 30 minute one track album by offthesky (jason corder), focusing on the tones taken from a fluorescent light. It is a beautiful experiment in drone which sees jason using the simplest of sources, opening up the tones and frequencies within and creating a haunting and touching piece, filled with unique layers and textures. Its a strictly 100 numbered release so you will have to be knight-rider fast to get a copy. All comes packaged in a nice brown recycled card, with embossed stamps to front and back, handmade paper mini-inlay from india (made with petals!).
