The cover of the new Crocodiles single 'I wanna kill' has a drawing of a bloke who looks like a young Bobby Dylan on the front....not really important but i thought i'd mention it anyhow's. The melody reminds me of the motif from channel 4's The Big Breakfast accompanied by the exact drum machine used by the Jesus & Mary chain on their second L.P. The chorus goes' 'I wanna kill tonight' which is well gothic and edgy and I'm scared shitless! Brettso reckon it sounds like A place to bury strangers but i've not heard them so i couldn't tell you. B-side 'Here comes the sky' is a balladry effort that sounds very much like Glassvegas with is reverb saturated vocal and it's vibrato guitar chords.Crocodiles are Brandon Welchez and Charles Rowell, two bros from San Diego who make music that resembles Jesus and Mary Chain, dark and moody but molding this with that kinda typically west coast pop sensibility. “I Wanna Kill” – a song not actually about killing people – epitomizes this, a repetitive electronic beat provides the background to this wonderful pop song.
The B-side to “I Wanna Kill” will be the dreamy surf pop ballad “Here Comes The Sky”.
This will be our first 7” single release. We’re very excited. It will be available on Monday 3rd August and is limited to 300 copies.
