Our single of the week (11th September 2009)
...according to our Business Lady on Fri 11 Sep, 2009.
Fuck Buttons have two new offerings on one tasty looking 7" picture disc. 'Surf Solar (7" edit)' features on the new Andrew Weatherall produced LP 'Tarot Sport' and gives the listener a good impression of what to expect from the much anticipated second LP. 'Surf Solar' is a grand and ambitious sounding track loosely based around some sort of old house/trance vocal sample. Not entirely sure of the origins of the sample but it gives the tune a late 80's dance feel that is then caked in F.B.'s custom ingredients of uplifting keys and tribal beats . It's certainly more polished than anything on Street Horrrsing but it still retains the elements that made Fuck Buttons such an appealing listen. 'New Crossbow' is an exclusive track that works its way into the system a lttle slower than the lead tune but it's just as effective and equally as good. A great start to a new campaign, I'll look forward to hearing the full record.Limited 7" Picture Disc, 1000 only for the world.
‘Surf Solar’ is the first single to be taken from the forthcoming album ’Tarot Sport’ recorded at Rotters Golf Club Studio in London with the legendary DJ, producer and remixer Andrew Weatherall on production duties.
The results of this pairing are astounding. Fuck Buttons continue to refine, craft, explore and develop the experimental aesthetic of last year’s critically acclaimed debut album, ’Street Horrrsing’. However, they also take proceedings to another level through a combination of their own ambitious aims and the application of Weatherall’s clear-sighted, rule-defying precision and attention to sonic detail.
