It's nice to have some Daniel Johnston releases back available. The early ones 'n all. I used to be well obsessed about him and I still go through the odd phase. He's playing in Leeds soon but I didn't bother getting tickets as he's a bit shit now and people invariably go to see him be a bit weird which feels wrong. Still those early albums are well worth hunting down. If you've no idea on earth what I'm on about then go and watch The Devil & Daniel Johnston and then see if you don't end up buying one of his records afterwards. You won't fail to be charmed by his songwriting prowess!! There's a best of out this week featuring 23 tracks that span his career which is worth picking up (Welcome To My World). Nice to see them mentioning the whole Kurt Cobain thing on there as well. Whatever you can do to sell records eh and if it means putting a sticker up that says there's 23 classic tracks by a favourite songwriter of someone who's been dead for 15 years then so be it. Also there's a CD out of Continued Story/Hi, How Are You? which are both fantastic albums. Ignore the crazyness and listen to the songs..... His melodies and songwriting are fantastic. You should check him out (hunt down 1990 as well... that one's genius).
