Harrison - Demos & Rarities, Volumes 1 & 2

Demos & Rarities, Volumes 1 & 2 by Harrison

Quite often when there's anything vaguely shit on the stereo I say it sounds like The Housemartins, even if it doesn't. It's just one method I have of expressing my displeasure and it's a particularly hilarious one if I do say so myself. I'm sure the boys would agree they've had some great times listening to me 'do that Housemartins thing'. Sides splitting, tears rolling down their faces, screaming "No, no, stop, no more, I can't breathe" as I let fly with another blazing barrage of comparative wit. Harrison really do sound like The Housemartins though. And Orange Juice and maybe The Style Council. And the singers doing a right effort at a Morrissey thing. Apparently some of their records go for loads of money so these two CDs of Demos & Rarities might help you poor unfortunate souls with gaps in your collection plug them right the way up.

There is currently a worldwide surge of interest in the 1980s British indie band Harrison. The Midlands band came very close to being signed by Chrysallis Records, then CBS. They released a 7" single (There is) No Refrain B/W Simply This which today sells for an amazing $204 and ± £158 on Ebay and other auction sites. Singer/songwriter of the band, Matt Price, has released a budget-price double CD of the band's recordings which is currently selling very well around the world, especially in Japan where one independent stockist believes it to be the best release of 2009, selling out in a single day (even at three times it's RRP!). It really is a veritable treat...
