Christopher Hipgrave - Subtleties

Subtleties by Christopher Hipgrave

4...according to our on Thu 30 Jul, 2009.

Yet another Release on Under the Spire who seem to be churning them out at the moment. This one is from Christopher Hipgrave who recently had an album out on Home Normal. This chaps a fairly new name (to me at least) in the field of sound design, and electronic music but he sounds remarkably accomplished, no doubt fine tuning his sound for a while before eventually unleashing it on the public. 'Subtleties' is appropriately titled with its slowly evolving textures. Some of them sound quite digital and synthetic while for the greater part they're very organic and majestic sounding. There's an ambient meets modern classical feel to the album, a sound that is quite popular at the moment. Hand numbered of 100 copies.

Following on from his debut album on Home Normal, Christopher
Hipgrave's second album is a more drone based almost organic affair. 100
copies in hand numbered, embossed & inkstamped 4-panel recycled card
covers from Stumptown Printers. Also includes an insert with beautiful
photography by Lindsay Smith.
