Reverb Worship have "licenced" an album by Detroit's Alan Scheurman. It's titled 'Old Patterns' and begins gently assaulting my senses with some hovering windswept drone before some acid fried Dylan-isms come out to play, squalling chinks of wah-ing electric, a plaintive acoustic, a dreamy Finlay Quaye-esque vocal & some muted brass! His style covers many bases touching on lounge-y folk, light jazz shades & earthy singer-songwriter classicisms. I LOVE his bands' sound, really natural playful drums, those deliciously warm, friendly pumps of brass & subtle electronic auras that enrich his personable, hazy style. He rocks out a bit halfway on 'Marco Polo' with a fuzzy guitar rumble & tumbling off-beat drums whilst not compromising his mellow, intimate delivery! The album continues delving into folk & even bluegrass pastures before some further adventures in spangled drone & opiated space-rock raise an eyebrow on 'Heat Death' Lovely stuff...I feel like he's in the room with me! This fully realised album concludes with a pretty drift piece titled in Hebrew. A great start to the morning! This is Alan Scheurman's "Old Patterns"cd.This album was originally available as a download only.Alan Scheurman comes from Detroit,Michigan and is in my opinion a very talented singer-songwriter indeed.Late in 2008 Al and myself discussed releasing this album as a limited edition cd after the album gained some really cool reviews (see below).
Al took on the job of producing the covers which are screen printed in graduating shades of red and blue. The covers are made from brown card which have been sourced from material made from recycled plastic bottles. The cd contains ten superb tracks and has a slightly different track listing for Reverb Worship version in the UK to the previously available.
