Solo Electric Bass Vol. 1.. I imagine by Volume 2 Tom Jenkinson (aka Squarepusher) will have made the semi-coveted Pastorius Trophy all his own via his endless flamenco-tinged fret abuse.. I'm pretty sure at one stage he does a little quote from 'My Favourite Things' so he's even managed to throw that classic jazz man tribute thing into the bargain too. He's obviously got unbelievable skills but I'm not sure quite how called for this all is. Limited to 850 copies.Squarepusher’s excursions as a solo bass virtuoso will be immortalised with
the forthcoming release of ‘Solo Electric Bass 1’.
This live recording was taken from one of his spellbinding solo bass
performances at Cité de la Musique, Paris in September 2007.
A performance that consists purely of Squarepusher on stage with a bass and
a small amp, it’s proof positive of his extraordinary talents.
Famous fans include Andre 3000 (Outkast) and Flea (Red Hot Chili
Peppers) who described Squarepusher as “the best electric bass player on
the earth, he is pushing the instrument the farthest - he is the best”.
The recording of this live show has been represented in its truest
form, done in one take with no editing afterwards, and all compositions
on this record are his own.
This limited release is a rare documentation for fans of the 'Pusher
and anyone who wishes to explore some technically astounding compositions
with the bass guitar.
Available on strictly limited edition CD (850 copies).
