Fanfarlo is a London-based indie pop band formed in 2006 by the Swedish musician Simon Balthazar. They make extensive use of instruments such as the trumpet, violin and mandolin as well as more commonplace instruments such as guitars and drums.

Throughout 2006-2008 they released three limited edition singles and one split 7" single with Sleeping States on London-based indie labels.

Their debut album, Reservoir, was recorded in October/November 2008 at Tarquin Studios, Connecticut, USA and was produced by Peter Katis (The National, Interpol).

Fanfarlo began touring with Snow Patrol in March of 2009, and played several shows at the South by Southwest Music Festival.

“Fanfarlo are one of those bands you wish you discovered. But on this occasion, David Bowie got there first” – The Independent.

“Fanfarlo have mastered the ability to merge a sincere melancholy with a passion that really connects, strings zapping you like electric currents in the sea of kitchen sink instrumentation leading Balthazar’s open-book vocal refrains. ‘Reservoir’ is ample testimony of their talents, and marks the long-awaited arrival proper of one of the country’s most promising (not so) new bands.” 8/10 – Clash magazine

“Pitched between Arcade Fire’s funereal art-rock and Beirut’s pastoral folk, but lacking the pomposity of the former and the pretentiousness of the latter, London-based collective Fanfarlo’s debut is a carefully orchestrated treat.”  8/10 - NME
