This record left our Business Lady feeling ecstatic.

I can't believe a decent UK band have been signed by Wichita!!! Ace!!! So are they gonna represent with 'OCD Go Go Girls'? I hope so. First up, I'm loving the artwork. The menacing kid pictured on the sleeve of the 'Think' EP was gonna take some topping but it looks like they've managed to better themselves. The same goes for the album itself. Lovvers have the ability to capture the essence of 60's American garage rock, UK 60's/70's mod pop and early British punk with incredible ease, I guess this is what makes them such a draw. That and the fact that they have an awesome guitar player in Henry Withers. His style is so simple yet totally spot on. I can hear the The Clash, Undertones, Clorox Girls, The Who, The Stooges and the Ramones amongst others!!! The production is fully fucked up and messy and I'm jealous that someone out there still gets to record to tape (on real tape machines, well jealous!!!). This album sounds like a real record, all fuzzy, loud and exciting. Single 'OCD Go Go Girls' is a total stand out in pop terms and should help garner further interest in the band. Other quality tunes include 'Creepy Crawl' (well clash yo!), 'D. Boon' (you gotta respect to one of our generations finest players/writers!!) and 'I Want To (Go)' which starts off sounding like an early Joy Division jam and has a awesome Devo style guitar solo later on. Not too fussed with the re-recording of 'Human Hair' (probably used to the previous recording on 'Think') but that's neither here nor there as this is an excellent debut album. Highly recommended my me and the Normo krew!! Get in!

This record left Stuart feeling happy.

Back to proper old skool (or school as it was spelt in my day) energetic bouncy pop - reminiscent of the buzzcocks in terms of pure noise and energy. Loud and unembarrassed. probably worth a punt for your cash if you like the sound of kids who love music and want to be part of it!

“THINK is coated with a gooey teenage nihilism and lovingly wrapped in both bubble gum pop and a fierce sense of the visceral, each of which belong to every truly great bastion of punk’s lineage. One of 2008’s finest.” – Plan B

“Thank god Wichita are putting it out. They [Lovvers] are good and they deserve it” – The Stool Pigeon

“Thrillingly addictive.” – Rock Sound

So, three years in, a million shows played, friendships won and lost… If you didn’t already realise, a 13 minute 12" (‘THINK’) doesn’t constitute an LP, so it’s now time for LOVVERS (before you ask it's two "V"s because it looks good) to release their first LP, ‘OCD GO GO GIRLS’.

Well, en route from rocking The Smell in LA, touring with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and playing god knows how many shows at SXSW, they’ve set about making a record that in their own words is “an unconventional weird pop record”. Comparisons to Mark Sultan and Clorox Girls are clear but it kicks off with something that almost resembles The Clash. This isn’t "Overpowered By Funk" but more "Career Opportunities" then next we get the Ramones meets Minutemen then 13th Floor Elevators.

Whilst this is budget rock, this time around the budget was actually pretty good so they relocated to Jackpot! Studios (owned by Larry Crane, editor of Tape Op Magazine) in the musical Mecca of Portland, Oregon. With Pat Kearns (Red Dons, Exploding Hearts) manning the desk they set about making a record that you're definitely going to want to keep spinning for some time from now.

‘OCD GO GO GIRLS’ is the title of the first single, which takes the Real Kids or Television and perhaps adds a touch of influence from Lovvers’ other favourite bands, such as No Age or Times New Viking.

The album is new-meets-old but by the end it’s fuzzed out Woodstock. This is vintage stuff; a completely analogue recording. New instruments have been embraced but when was the last time an independent English band made an interesting, raw, guitar record?

As LOVVERS front man, Shaun Hencher puts it “there's a wealth of American bands, it's a good time, but when was the last time we championed our own? With bands like Shitty Limits, Hipshakes and, hopefully, us raising the stakes, surely it's time for people to stop listening to what they're told and make up their own minds. And when was the last time that happened?
