The Citadels - Golden Islands

London based 5 piece Citadels are set to release their debut single Golden Islands through Friends VS Records on August 3rd. Critics have likened the glistening slice of fantasy pop that is Golden Islands to being ‘much like the sensation of being fired from a canon, missing the net, but landing on a warm, sandy beach, miles away from responsibility…’. The single will be released as a download and on limited edition 7” vinyl only. Citadels cross Badalamenti synths and cascading flutes with fuzzy guitars, to take on a pioneering powerpop form that never loses sight of a good tune.  Taking a general Westerly direction to music making (like the relentless sweep of Manifest Destiny without the White Supremacist overtones) Citadels retain a sense of depth, intelligence, and playfulness that makes them stand out against the current backdrop of ubiquitous throwaway 80s-influnced electro-pop.
