Just got back from a short holiday and am greeted with a Gown/ Chapels split tape on House Of Alchemy. Gown have had stuff out on Digitalis, Ecstatic Yod, Little Teddy Three Lobed etc and feature members of Sunburned Hand Of The Man and Andrew MacGregor who is half of The Bark Haze along with Thurston Moore. Their side 'Early Morning Missing' sounds totally acid fried with a kinda weird wobbly underwater production sound. The track is comprised of layers of guitar that build into a psychedelic and uplifting tune that hits you like the rays of the sun. The tape format really gives it a great sound. Chapels is Adam Richards who runs the House Of Alchemy label and on the other side of the tape brings 'Ran Past 10 Dark Houses'. This is spooked guitar piece that has a delicate emotional framework but is kinda fuzzed up with trippy effects, it's quite lo-fi sounding and again this sounds sweet on tape.
