Data - Doors Of Perception

Doors Of Perception by Data

4...according to our on Thu 27 Aug, 2009.

Data has a 12" out called 'Doors Of Reception' on Tempa and it's a super late night deep slow tune full of shimmering dub chords that dissolve into the distance. I'm quite enjoying this actually, it's a heady number that I reckon I would well buzz off at home with the lights dimmed. This guy used to put stuff out on Metalheadz so you can be assured his production skills are in check. He's one of many D&B producers that's moved into creating dubstep and I think the way these guys tackle the slower tempo of dubstep suits their style really well. The flip has a big throbbing low end, but fear not for there's no over the top wobble action here.

*  This is Data’s first release on Tempa, he’s an artist perhaps best known for his releases under Goldie’s Metalheadz imprint.
*  His sound is more akin to Headhunter and Basic Channel than, say, Benga and proudly sits more comfortably after 5am or indeed on your home monitors than it does peak-time on the dancefloor. An excellent demonstration of the versatility of the dubstep sound and somewhat more in-line with the founding principles of Tempa.
*  Moving with the pronounced and measured pace of experience ’Doors Of Perception’ is afforded character by intermittent sweeps and percussion which add scar tissue to the body of work.
*  The B, ’Leaves’, makes reference to the glory of individuality whilst remaining grounded in the knowledge that "no human being is any better or any less than any other".
*  Tracklist: A>> Doors Of Percetption (feat. Cell) B>> Leaves
