I've seen a picture of Emmy the Great, she's a bit of a fox like, and has a sweet voice to match her catchy folk pop too. Along with Laura Marling & Beth Jeans Houghton, she's one of a the new breed of traditionalist singer/songwriter who takes established country rock & English folk elements and melds them to simple, timeless arrangements. Her new waxing (yeah we actually GOT this) is a 4 track 12" called 'Edward EP (First Songs)' and although it's quite a mature & commercial sound she's got there's elements I quite like although her lyrics are precocious & a bit cringy at times, dippy 6th form poetry type stuff. Not an unpleasant listen.....Strictly 500 run limited edition 12” of 4 new Emmy the Great songs, having never been released. Previous 7” sold out within one month. Currently on UK tour including Queen Elizabeth Hall headline date, Glastonbury Festival, Secret Garden, Indietracks Festival, Big Chill, Kendal Calling, Summer Sundae and Green Man Festival. Single ‘Edward is Dedwood’ is 6Music playlisted with reviews running in The Independent, Q, and more.
