The Foxes - Lover, Killer

Lover, Killer by The Foxes

Hot on the heels of their self-released indie-chart topping successes "Trauma Town" and "Bill Hicks", The Foxes return with this sure-fire summer hit, "Lover, Killer", recorded at the legendary Eastcote Studios, mixed by Sam Williams (Supergrass, Kula Shaker) and mastered by John Davis (Razorlight, U2, Oasis). With interest from a host of luminaries to make The Foxes debut album, including producers John Cornfield and Mike Crossey, the band are in the process of selecting which live favourites will make the final cut. The Foxes charted their last two singles in the official UK Indie chart at 9 and then 6; trumping acts such as Royksopp and The Dears and entering just 3 places below Oasis.

In essence, The Foxes' ability to produce honest, raw and yet unique energised rock and roll seems to be nothing short of effortless in this track. The Kinks-esque opening firmly roots 'Lover Killer' in the realms of a guitar-led sound followed by profound urbanised lyrics. The greatest compliment one can pay to this scintilating three minutes is that it just seems to make sense. The Foxes seem to articulate moments that are pertinent to us all in their pieces.Although some may argue that the instrumentals seem a trifle self-indulgent and restrictive, the song and the band will infiltrate the majority if our ipod's 'most played' playlists. There is more to come from this lot. Much more.
