Wellington / Foreign Photograph by Psychic Powers

Psychic Powers provide us with the latest installment in the Geographic North 7" series, subtitled 'You Can't Hide Your Love Forever'. 'Wellington' is a strutting electro rock piece that kind of reminds me of Flock of Seagulls and Electronic. It's got a bit of an old Euro pop pulse & at one (very brief) point recalls the terminally useless White Lies but these knowing Yanks sure know how to make a truly great lost 80's pop classic so, of course, you can't get the fucking thing out of your head, it goes tribal megamix-tastic in the middle and the skinny, gothic guitar line is well luscious, the vocals are so Barney it hurts and if it wasn't for that bloody Wooden Shjjjjjjjjjips geezer, I'd be shouting this out for a possible SOTW. The flip 'Foreign Photograph' is great as well, Classy, glossy, wistful, brooding and majestic with some more fabulous classic 80's pop touches, even down to the flawless vacuum sealed production, those drums are mint! It kind of reminds me of The Beloved and bands like that, but this is actually better IMO. Be quick, there's only 300 of these tasty pink vinyl babies!!!

i love this song!  it's catchy and fun.   it throws me back to my youth during the 80's, when i listened to the pet shop boys and new order.  two big thumbs up for psychic powers.
