Single & remixes:
With their debut album “Nonsense In The Dark” already winning people over with its unique song-based genre-melting electro-dance-rock, Filthy Dukes are gearing up for a Big Summer. New single “Messages” is the unashamed pop follow-up to the disco-noir club hit “This Rhythm”. Filthy Dukes’ Olly Dixon – “Messages is our big pop moment. We finished it very quickly and Tommy wrote this massive chorus in about 4 hours. It scared the shit out of us at first, so we tried some dirtier versions but we always came back to the fact that it is just a big fun pop record. We have embraced the pop now and love it.” Featuring Tommy Sparks on vocals it is released on 6th July with surefire remixes in the can from Kris Menace, Burns, Brookes Brothers, We Have Band, Stop Making Me and the Dukes’ own Kill Em All alternate version. (The Dukes continue to turn out top class remixes under the Kill Em All guise, most recently for Lady Gaga (Paparrazzi), The Temper Trap, Hockey and White Lies).
“The rising stars of electro-pop” TIME OUT
Album:
Channelling the spirit of Krautrock legends Kraftwerk via their old mixing desk (built by producer Conny Plank and acquired by Filthy Dukes producer Mark Ralph), “Nonsense in The Dark” saw Filthy Dukes collaborate with a set of guest vocalists whom they met chiefly via their own Kill Em All club night (see track listing overleaf). Inspired by their love of Daft Punk, Chemical Brothers and Kraftwerk and excited by the wave of intelligent and experimentally minded new bands like Bloc Party, Justice and Late of The Pier who played early days gigs at the club, “Nonsense in The Dark” is, as DJ mag commented “an embarrassment of riches” and a representation of all that is great in the world of Filthy Dukes - proper songs, the spirit of live music and the thrill of the dancefloor = perfection!
“While this album’s unbridled party spirit is the first thing that hits you,
it’s the warmth and romance of these tracks that lingers” METRO ****
