Their Hearts Were Full Of Spring - How I Wasted My Youth

How I Wasted My Youth by Their Hearts Were Full Of Spring

“How I Wasted My Youth" is a curious masterpiece of pop, filled with melodies and harmonies that turn its lyrics of disappointment and loss into a strangely uplifting, beautiful record. Despite set-backs and twists of fate that would disgrace the pen of an Australian soap scriptwriter, and having 'lost' more drummers than Spinal Tap, THWFoS have somehow made "How I Wasted My Youth" an uplifting work of great beauty. An early review from God Is In The TV's Michael Hall described it as "an album of delicately shaded dark and light from a band intent on creating their own virtual musical world ... a widescreen stretch of pop landscape". To wring such positivity from adversity would be a remarkable thing for most groups, but those who know THWFoS would expect nothing less. And "those who know" are growing in numbers. Since the release of their debut single (2007's "A Question of Trust") THWFoS have toured up and down the country, released records in Europe with German indie label TV Eye, become regulars on the UK festival circuit (including sets at Latitude, Big Chill, Truck, Greenbelt, Indietracks, Swn and the London Short Film Festival), and received radio airplay on local, independent and national stations from the most important taste-makers (Steve Lamacq, Huw Stephens, Tom Robinson, etc). Their latest project - a selection of seasonally-themed cover versions released as a set of free-to-download singles on Strange Torpedo Records/// - is proving to be as successful as it is ambitious. Their "Winter" single received over 7,000 unique downloads, the CD edition (only available at live shows) completely sold out, and a plethora of influential bloggers and press people fell in love with it - Artrocker magazine even declared THWFoS' version of "Winterlong" to be better than the Pixies'! High praise indeed. Interest in the band has never been greater. With continuing solid support from the independent press and a professional press officer now on board for the first time, we're also expecting good coverage for this release from the likes of NME, Uncut, Q and Clash. A summer tour is also planned, kicking off at Truck Festival (main stage) on 25th July. Tracklisting: 1. Take Your Own Good Advice 2. A Question of Trust 3.
