It has been 36 years since the original release of ‘Blackboard Jungle Dub’ in 1973, a collaboration  between Lee Scratch Perry and King Tubby that stands as a cornerstone of dub and a seminal portal from the earth into the mad, mad world of LSP. Vienna’s Dubblestandart, for 20 years one of Europe’s top ranking live dub outfits, called on Perry to step back into the far reaching universe of dub he helped create has spawned, while they assembled a dub dream team including their NYC bredren Subatomic Sound System, who for a decade have been pushing the boundries of dub through all sorts of genre bending turns and live electronic performances. As Dubblestandart and The Mighty Upsetter worked on a full length album, individual tracks were completed and remixed for a series of limited edition 12”s. The first taste was ‘Iron Devil’, a 12” late in 2008 which relicked one of Scatch’s all time classic riddims in a dubstep and dancehall style, which disappeared from store shelves worldwide in less than a week. Next up is ‘Blackboard Jungle’, in four different explosive combinations, with Lee’s potent vibes hooked to a riddim hot and heavy with a hard charging beat. Subatomic Sound System twists it up and dubsteps it into oblivion, with Jahdan Blakkamoore spitting lethal rhymes all over. Blacker than dread sounds from 1973 straight into 2009.
