This was kind of a tough little 7" to figure out from the packaging but it seems it's a self-released split between Neg-Fi and Eilyas. The Neg-Fi side is amazing - four really short tracks (between just under one and a half minutes and ten seconds), each containing a satisfyingly clangy bass and a little bit of No-Wave guitar skronk like lost tapes from a Birthday Party rehearsal where they were all just that little bit too smacked-up to actually form a full song but still sounded well fit. 'Kin hell I've just read the press release and they're in Glenn Branca's gang, that's surely enough of an endorsement on its own. Eiliyas is a bit harder to describe, sounding to me like someone trying to construct some kind of moribund industrial ballad using samples from a Prurient CD. An intriguing single, and perhaps just a little delightful? Yes I think so.NEG-FI / EILIYAS (Split 7")

Neg-Fi
http://www.myspace.com/negfi
Neg-Fi is a loud, completely instrumental "no-wave" duo from Brooklyn,
NY. They play short minimal metalloid duets using severely de-tuned
guitars, walkie-talkies, and various homemade anomalous devices.
Both members also frequently play as part of Glenn Branca's ensemble
(Ryan joining in 2003 and Evelyne in 2006), and recently shared a bill
with Branca as Neg-Fi before joining him onstage to perform his newest
piece, "Lesson No. 3". They've also played Branca's Symphony No 13 in
New Jersey, St. Louis, Ghent, Kortrijk, Rome, and London.

Eiliyas
http://www.myspace.com/eiliyas
Eiliyas is the project of Eiliyas. Eiliyas doesn't know how to
describe Eiliyas. But all Eiliyas knows is that Eiliyas loves Eiliyas.
Eiliyas has been doing Eiliyas for about 8 yrs now, but Eiliyas didn't
start to really try and push Eiliyas until close to this past year,
which kinda doesn't make sense sense, Eiliyas loves Eiliyas sooooo
much. But Eiliyas also realized that Eiliyas wasn't for everyone, no
matter how much Eiliyas loved Eiliyas. It's like when Eiliyas was
younger and his Eiliyas's favorite drink was Apple Slice. Eiliyas
thought that it was the greatest drink in the world. Apparently
everyone else didn't think so, and it was no longer sold within the
year. This saddened Eiliyas, as he really wished that he had his Apple
Slice... *sigh* Nevertheless Eiliyas loves Eiliyas and will forever
keep up with Eiliyas and forever love Eiliyas, even if no one else
loves Eiliyas the same way no one else loved Apple
Slice...(sidenote:Eiliyas mixes apple juice with ginger ale sometimes
to try and recreate apple slice, and sometimes he feels like it works)
