I've been reliably informed that the new God Save the Girl single 'Funny little frog' is a reworking/cover a the song from the last Belle and Sebastian record though It sounds like McAlmont and Butler to me! I'm suspicious of God Help the Girl......I saw them on E4 performing songs from their new album in what looked like a village fete, it was like watching the auditions for The Commitments! Probably the most un-convincing and less effective promotional tools i've ever witnessed. anyway, I don't the vocals on this track but not fussed by the song arrangements or overall style. Saying that, if you like Belle and sebastian then you'll probably enjoy this single very much. B-side 'Mary's Market' is essentially a Belle and Sebastian song (including a Stuart Murdoch vocal) so you'll like that too. Hey, is God save the Girl just an excuse for Mr. Murdoch to get laid?
