I love a bit of German cheese me. So I was kind of excited by this Funky Frauleins LP which has just landed courtesy of Bureau B who seem to doing some wicked reissues at the mo. This is a smashing comp of cheesy funk pop tunes from 1968-78 and if it doesn't being a smile to your face then you can't be human! Featuring no one I've ever heard of the album struts along all uber funky like and is chocka full of cheesy late 70's disco smashes and some of your early late 60's early funk tunes. It's great fun and those who got the In Kraut comps on Marina will like it I reckon. Also there's a cool painted naked chick on the cover who makes me feel like I need to get my paint brush out!Female Beat, Groove, Disco, Funk In Germany 1968–1978.
Bureau
B’s “Funky Fräuleins” compilation offers up 18 glistening pearls of
Germanified Groove, Federal Funk and Imperial Beat from the sixties and
seventies, all with one common denominator: female fingers holding the
microphone. Most of the Funky Fräuleins are genuine locals. Some,
however, had the most fleeting guest appearances as Fräuleins, whilst
others arrived from different countries to carve out a career in
Germany and ended up staying for decades.
