The first official release of Gareth Williams of THIS HEAT's solo and collaborative works from 1985. When Gareth Williams died in 2001, the world lost a unique creative talent, yet little is known of his work outside of the legendary group This Heat. "Flaming Tunes" was recorded by Gareth Williams and Mary Currie, with input from a variety of contributors including fellow This Heat member Charles Bullen, long term collaborators Martin Harrison and Rick Wilson, Mick Hobbs and others, building up songs from fragments and simple arrangements, using whatever instruments they had to hand and the resourceful aesthetic of pushing a cassette portastudio to its maximum. Originally released on cassette in 1985, "Flaming Tunes" has languished in relative obscurity over the years, now this reissue comes packaged in a bespoke digipak with a eco-friendly paperfoam tray, with a 16-page insert with images and photographs from throughout Gareth's life.
