Jukebox Collective - Black Light

Black Light by Jukebox Collective

I feel like i've heard Jukebox Collective's 'Black Light' somewhere before. Aha! We had a promo sent a couple of weeks ago. That's where. I like the weedy organ underneath the very Mancunian sounding mororik new wave pop. The vocals are sort of half chanted with a bit of a Cockney edge and the guitars scissor around with a sturdy funky drumbeat. They're certainly tons better than that terrible London band from a few years ago, The Others, but something about this recalls them! Hints of Menswear & Campag Velocet too possibly. Jukebox Collective Debut Single Release

Working with Tom Aikenhead (The Kooks, Pigeon Detectives, The
Maccabees), new East London based band, Jukebox Collective, are set to
release their debut single at the end of the month.  With an interest in fusing
traditional and modern instruments, the record pulls influence from the ‘70s
punk era as well as the recent dance pop revival.

Side A and title track, Black Light, is a mesh of fuzzy guitars and delayed
keyboards, underpinning Kevin Sewell’s sharp, storytelling approach to
vocals. Side B, Joie De Vivre captures more of the bands electronic pop edge.
One can liken their sound to an English version of LCD Soundsystem meets
Iggy Pop.

With their first live performance being a sell out event, as well as a string of
gigs booked in London this summer, we can expect to hear more about
Jukebox Collective shortly.
