What their label says...
Defend Moscow will release their second single 'Die Tonight' on 6th July through Kids Records (The Wombats, The Whip, Kyte). 'Die Tonight' is the follow up to the sell out debut single, 'Manifesto' which garnered overwhelmingly positive reviews, and support from Zane Lowe (Radio 1), 6Music and XFM. 'Die Tonight' explores the thoughts that would go through the minds of people informed that a nuclear attack had been launched, and certain death was minutes away, to the soundtrack of a dancefloor-destroying beat and bassline, and the soaring twin vocals of Jon Beck and Sofie Storaas.
B-side 'Sign of Life' continues the dark lyrical theme (sitting by the bedside of someone on life support), accompanied by epic washes of synths and another driving bassline, recalling Depeche Mode, New Order and Brian Eno.
Since forming in September 2008, Defend Moscow have clocked up an impressive array of supports, playing with Sam Sparro, The Wombats, Tinchy Stryder and Sneaky Sound System. In the press, Popjustice have given them the nod, noting that 'they make some great synthpop tunes', whilst The Guardian stated that 'they could end up with the indie-pop album we dreamed of Franz making'. There Goes The Fear declared that 'Defend Moscow's perfectly preened pop, colourfully tainted with a quirky electro edge is set to soar the airwaves this year'. Defend Moscow are ready and armed to lead an electro-pop revolution.
