ABOUT THE BAND:
The Bobby McGee's are a band like no other. Formed by a Scottish emigre to Brighton Jimmy where he was joined by a tender-voiced Eleanor and a classically trained jazz musician Graeme, the group has been described as "Dostoyevsky Doing Skiffle!" by Everett True (for Plan B) and likened to "a domestic in a Glasgow boozer, but with ukuleles" (Rory Mackie, Clash Magazine). Their live shows involve full stage make-up, candy bombs and a hell of a lot of swearing. Their songs are at once tender, angry and hilarious; a combination that has won them celebrity fans from Jarvis Cocker to Fatboy Slim and a commission for a Film Four advert. Always the pioneers of the do-it-yourself ethic, they have built their own recording studio (the walls, the roof, everything!) and have inspired
a whole new generation of bands to follow in their wake; picking up acoustic instruments and setting up bands their own way. The Los Campesinos! song 'International Tweexcore Underground' was written in their honour.
The Bobby McGee's line up consists of:
J C 'Jimmy' McGee - vocals, ukulele, glock, beards....
Eleanor 'bambi' McGee - vocals, banjolele and ukulele, glock, melodica, recorder, bespoke clothing....
Becca 'parp' McGee - tenor and soprano Saxophone, glock, saw, melodica, recorder, jazz wigouts.....
GG (Graeme) 'testarossa' McGee - Bass and Drum, tape echo, the rest....
