Kiila are an ever expanding collective of friends from Finland whose new record 'Touta Touta' is one of many releases that have seen the band evolve and mutate dependent upon their circumstances. The music on 'Touta Touta' is considered and focused with an emphasis on traditional folk song arrangements. There are some great moments on the this record with great use of duel harmony vocals with an interesting selection of instruments. The use of strings reminds me of dEUS and the sonic treatment brings a krautrock element to this folksy jams. Third track 'Portaissa' totally wigs out at the end and brings to mind all sorts of pyschedelic recordings. It's well tasteful yo! The vocals are all in Finnish so I can't shed much light on what the songs are about but their Myspace reveals that they touch upon themes of knowledge and work, the fluctuations of inspiration and threat. I think it'll need another listen before it completely sinks in but 'Touta Touta' sounds like a definite grower with alot of variety to sink your teeth into."Tuota tuota is a delight, a fresh collection of uplifting neo-psychedelic
romps invested with a decidedly romantic edge... [...] Kiila's latest is
another feather in Fonal's already impressively plumed cap."

'Tuota Tuota' is the third full-length album by Kiila, who's eight-strong
core line up deliver a killer collection of psych-folk delights; beautifully
refined arrangements and memorable songs develop into full blown cosmic
freak outs, making 'Tuota Tuota' an instant hit for fans of artists such as
Espers and Akron/Family. A combination of gentle campfire folk and
explosive, fuzzed-out jams, bring the songs to a whole new level of
contemporary psych.
There's enough here to satisfy the Fairport and Sun Ra audiences alike.
Quite spectacular.
