I take a day off work and what do I find upon my return... A Darren Hayman & The Wave Pictures CD aptly titled 'Madrid' as it was recorded live in April of 2007 in that very Spanish city. I must confess to not really being a fan as I find this stuff a bit insipid and occasionally irritating. I've heard worse live albums though and if you're a follower of either then you'll probably be well chuffed as this is a Hefner reunion of sorts, which includes a few Hefner tracks as well as solo material.... Brian has just shouted "shut your mouth" which is my cue to hit stop. I'm being prompted to give this a good kicking but I'm feeling too happy today to go there. Out on Belka.

(Recorded Live on the 22nd April 2007 at Sala Siroco, Madrid). After ten albums, with and without Hefner, Darren Hayman has secured a loyal cult following both in Britain and in Spain. Similarly the Wave Pictures have quickly built up a large fan base both with their own records and their collaborations with Jeffrey Lewis, Herman Dune and the Mountain Goats. Darren took the Wave Pictures on tour with him as his backing band in 2007 where this memorable show was recorded. The group perform Hefner hits and rarities as well as the best of Darren’s solo output.Also included is a live version of Genesis Rock, a song as yet unreleased elsewhere.
