This record left our Ant feeling ecstatic.

Luke Slater is a man on a mission to save techno and much to his devotees joy he's returned to his sacred Planetary Assault Systems guise with a monster of an album in the form of 'Temporary Suspension' for Berlin techno mecca club Berghain's in-house label Ost Gut Tontrager. Part of the charm of his PAS stuff was the slightly rough around the edges rugged feel. This time round he's tweaked the sound to be pristine  I suspect possibly a move from analogue to digital tools, but it sounds great for it. The tracks are constructed for maximum damage on big sound systems like Berghain's 6-point Funktion One system which I've heard is earth quake inducing. There are some absolute slammers on here, pounding 4/4 beats build hypnotic stomping grooves, jacking rhythms with seriously fantastic sci-fi noises. Slater keeps things futuristic throughout with some clever tricks and depth in the production. Every time I've played this album I've noticed something I'd not realized was there previously The tracks build into absolute banging levels that will create euphoria guaranteed. In the current wave of mostly bland minimal techno, it's great to have some proper maximalist gear and this is just the ticket. I'd always hoped Luke Slater would return to making techno and my prayers have been answered. I totally recommend this album of crafty and functional club rockers.
