Super Animal Brothers III by Ear Pwr

4...according to our on Fri 10 Jul, 2009.

I've had this CD in my front room for a couple of weeks now & i've been a little scared to review it. It's by Ear Pwr and my hesitation stems from the fact i'm too old & clumsy to dance properly to this excellent Baltimore party groovathon and terrified of trashing my front room with flailing arms & collapsing legs, gyrating, convulsing & sweating to 'Super Animal Brothers' contents - mainly comprised of super sassy hyper-pop & cute DIY day-glo electro stormers. The first of many absolutely perfect moments for instance - 'Beam of Light' - has the sweetest female vocal over this an effortless cyber party bounce. So many tracks, all stuffed full of infectious dinky keyboard melodies, irresistible toytown basslines and galloping booty shaking beats! This vastly talented duo obviously hail from the same scene as B-Boy Dan Deacon, his colourful party aesthetic & melody rich floor-burning pop has rubbed off tremendously well on his comrades. The tropical atmospherics and sing-song lyrical style that these songs are smothered in kinda reminds me of the wonderful High Places but remixed by, say, Dat Politics at their most delightfully funky! These songs ain't no throwaway style over substance anthems either, there's something in these delicious harmonies I find incredibly emotive and the uber tight programming is set to interstellar overdrive in the feelgood stakes. This is MY Summer album, I urge you to join in this stargazing future-disco marathon! CD with LP to follow!!
