Magic & Fur are Christopher Wilde, Gary Legend, Gavin Ellis, Julian Simon, Artur Dyjecinski and Dom Ryan.
London band Magic & Fur are providing the May installment for the Too Pure Singles Club. Being released on 500 limited and hand numbered 7” singles, they’re already in good company as this year has already seen Pulled Apart By Horses, Peggy Sue, Bear Hands and Friendship contribute towards 7”s on the revitalised Too Pure label (they also first brought PJ Harvey, Stereolab, Seefeel, Mouse On Mars and mclusky let us not forget).
‘Christine’ b/w ‘Apple Falls’ is the first ever release from this rated new outfit, having only formed in late-2008. Dramatic, in love and with unintentional shades of Cole, Johnson, Cocker, Chadwick, Haines, McCulloch, Cope (alright, you get the picture), Magic & Fur are a most British band; a much needed one at that…
“Some say love songs are a tired old format but we don't think so, for through love lies a connection to just about every emotion in the human canon and because of this the possibilities are endless. We also write about drugs and alcohol.”
There might well be a revival of early 90s dirge in full swing out there but whatever happened to the hopeless romantics?
