Twice Worn by Adam Trainer

Next up is a CD album by Adam Trainer and comes to us all the way from the land down under courtesy of hellosQuare Recordings. 'Twice Worn' begins with an experimental piano and electronics piece called 'South China Sea II' that's fairly light and easy on the ears. Then 'Come Back: I'll' Change' goes into darker territory with deep guitar tones, morphing drones and crackly electronics. Then we're back into more modern classical territory with the haunting piano of 'Cabrini Green' with slightly unnerving electronics which is like a Library Tapes/Machinefabriek hybrid. The album continues to flow with a nice balance of feeling quite light and almost playful but still has a mysterious element running through the electronics. A most pleasant listen.

One of hellosQuare's closest friends brings us his first solo album after a 3" on Wilting Flower and a split CDR with Shoeb Ahmad on Frosty You Haunt Me. A beautiful collage of acoustic room tones and dirty electronics that takes cues from the likes of Philip Jeck in his approach to composition with the most minimal of technology. Awesome!
